Pedestrian, 73, Struck And Killed On Route 23
Officials said a driver hit the man around 6 a.m. Tuesday morning, as he was trying to cross the highway.
WEST MILFORD, NJ — Officials said a pedestrian was struck and killed by a motorist on Tuesday morning, while he was trying to cross Route 23 in West Milford.
Police and the Passaic County Prosecutor's Office said the crash happened around 6 a.m., in the area of NJ-23 South and Old Ridge Road.
Authorities identified the pedestrian as Mod A. Khader, a 73-year-old from Lincoln Park. Khader was rushed to Chilton Medical Center in Pompton Plains, where he died from his injuries a few hours after the crash, said officials.

All lanes were closed and detoured for close to two hours, according to the New Jersey Department of Transportation. Route 23 had fully reopened by 10 a.m., per 511nj.org and local police.
The vehicle driver remained at the scene to speak with law enforcement, said Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and West Milford Police Chief James DeVore in a joint statement.
