CLIFTON, NJ — Police say an alleged "porch pirate" from Clifton could be involved in thefts in both Passaic and Bergen counties.

Police in Paramus charged Khaled M. Mansour, 38, in connection with a package theft that took place there last Thursday.

That day, a resident saw a man steal the package from their front porch before 12:30 p.m., according to police. The theft was captured on their CCTV system and the man was seen leaving the area in a white Ford E-Series van, police said.

The Paramus Police Criminal Investigation Bureau noticed a pattern of similar package thefts across neighboring jurisdictions, all involving the same suspect and vehicle, according to officials.

Authorities later identified the suspect as Mansour, and charged him with theft under New Jersey’s 2022 "Porch Pirate Theft" statute. He was released pending a court hearing, police said.

Police in Paramus and Clifton are working together to investigate similar thefts, said Paramus Chief Robert Guidetti.

"As package thefts often increase during the holiday season, residents are encouraged to remain vigilant," he said. "Consider arranging for deliveries to be sent to secure locations or asking trusted neighbors to collect packages promptly."
