See Inside New Wayne Theater With Recliners, Pizza Hut

WAYNE, NJ – A new 12-screen movie theater featuring heated recliners, alcohol and Pizza Hut officially opened Thursday in Wayne.

Cinemark Willowbrook Mall on Willowbrook Boulevard – which replaced the Sears Auto Center- held a pre-opening VIP event featuring a "ticket tearing"ceremony with Cinemark executives and Passaic County officials on Wednesday evening.

Attendees included Wayne Mayor Christopher Vergano, Willowbrook Mall's Senior General Manager Nancy Barbary, President of the TriCounty Chamber of Commerce Jamie Dykes, Cinemark's Marketing/Promotions Vice President Bryan Jeffries and Cinemark's Marketing Manager Jennifer Wood.

As the holiday season approaches, the Cinemark Willowbrook Mall and XD theatre will be home to the latest releases, including “Frozen 2,” “Jumanji: The Next Level,” “Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker” and more.

“Our new theatre offers a top-of-the-line, modernized entertainment destination for the Wayne community,” said Mark Zoradi, Cinemark CEO. “We are excited to deliver guests an immersive movie-going experience with optimum sight and sound technology, premium amenities, and enhanced food and beverage offerings.”

Every auditorium has Cinemark's "Luxury Lounger" which are "plush, ergonomic heated recliners" that come complete with snack tables and foot rests.

The 44,000-square-foot theater also features an XD auditorium, which has a wall-to-wall screen, state-of-the-art projector and custom surround sound.

Besides the usual concession stand snacks, like popcorn, soda and candy, there will also be Pizza Hut, Hershey's cookies and Edy's ice cream, according to Cinemark's website. Other snacks include burgers, chicken tenders, mozzarella sticks, fried pickles and quesadillas.

The township planning board in 2017 approved the theater and it's one of several new businesses in Willowbrook Mall. Other new arrivals include Dave & Buster's, Buffalo Wild Wings, P.F. Chang's and Shake Shack.

Cinemark is the third largest movie theater chain in the country. In New Jersey, it has theaters in Hazlet, Somerdale and Watchung.
