Streets Remain Flooded In Wayne After Storm

WAYNE, NJ — Flooding continues to afflict roads in Wayne on Wednesday afternoon as runoff from Tuesday night's storm pools.

According to local police, Route 202 (Mountain View Blvd.) is closed at Fayette Avenue in Wayne. There is currently no access to or from Lincoln Park.

According to forecasters, three rivers in North Jersey are expected to hit the "major flood level" stage, including one in Morris County. The Passaic River at Pine Brook is anticipated to hit the major flood stage and rise to 21.4 feet by Thursday.

The Pompton River is currently at 20.32 feet, indicating it is at the major flood stage on Wednesday.

Residents in flood-prone areas are urged to move vehicles to higher ground and plan to self-evacuate before roads become impassable, police said.

For those who are already on the roads or may be required to travel, officials have cautioned drivers to respect road closures and never to drive into standing water. Even seemingly low waters could be masking damaged roads that may disable a vehicle, and rising waters could result in severe injuries and possibly death.
