NJ Teen Hospitalized After Apparent Pool Party Drowning
Witnesses said they unsuccessfully tried to remove the teen from the water, according to authorities.
PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A 19-year-old man is in serious condition after he was found unresponsive in a pool this weekend, police said.
On Sunday, around 4:30 p.m., Clifton first responders were dispatched to a pool party on Lennon Place to assist a swimmer in distress.
Witnesses told police that the 19-year-old was unconscious in the water and that they had unsuccessfully tried to get him out of the pool.

First responders were able to pull the teen from the pool before performing resuscitation efforts, police said.
The teen was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he is currently in “serious condition,” according to authorities.

Clifton police officials added that the teen does not live on the property and was a guest at the function.
Authorities also said that while the incident is under investigation, the situation “appears to be accidental.”
No further details were made available at this time.
This is the third apparent pool drowning incident in the area in days, with one five-year-old in Paterson dying on July 12, and another pronounced dead in Wayne this weekend.
