Teen Scooter Driver Dies In Passaic County Crash, 1 Other Injured

Officials said the two 18-year-olds were riding on a motor scooter when they collided with a Jeep, just before 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

PATERSON, NJ — A Paterson teenager died and another was hospitalized after the scooter they were on collided with another vehicle on Wednesday evening, according to the Passaic County Prosector's office.

Officials said the two 18-year-old males were traveling along Madison Avenue just before 8 p.m., when the motor scooter collided with a Jeep Grand Cherokee near the intersection of 9th Avenue.

The scooter driver, identified as Angelvl Javier-Reynos, was pronounced dead at the scene, authorities said Thursday. First responders took the other young man, Brailin Dominguez, to the hospital with non-fatal injuries.

In a news release, Prosecutor Camelia M. Valdes and Paterson Police Officer-In-Charge Isa Abbassi said the Jeep driver "had valid driving credentials, remained on scene, and was not injured in the collision." No charges have been announced.
