UPDATE: Police Seek Witnesses in Church Lane Crash After Victim Dies

A 2008 Volkswagen Beetle was traveling North on Church Lane when it collided with a 1999 Toyota Corolla.

The Wayne Police Department is looking for anyone who might have witnessed a Jan. 15 crash involving two vehicles.

Wayne Police responded to Church Lane at 10:09 p.m. and determined a 2008 Volkswagen Beetle, driven by Stacy Gale, 53, of Wayne, was traveling North on Church Lane when it collided with a 1999 Toyota Corolla, driven by Samira Hassan, 70, of Paterson, Lt. Daniel J. Daly said.

Hassan, who was backing up from a residential driveway at the time of the collision, was found unconscious in her vehicle by emergency responders, who rendered aid. She was transported to St. Joseph’s Medical Center, where her condition was first listed as critical.

Police have now said Hassan succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at Saint Joseph’s Medical Center by Dr. Mark Ingram at 8:28 p.m. on Jan. 25.

Gale sustained minor injuries in the crash, but declined medical attention, according to Lt. Daly.

The crash is under investigation by the Wayne Police Traffic Bureau and the Passaic County Prosecutors office and anyone who may have witnessed this crash is asked to contact the Wayne Police Department Traffic Bureau at 973-633-3520.
