Wayne Man Burglarized Elderly Residents' Cars: Police

The unlocked cars belong to residents of Edward Sisco Village, police said.

WAYNE, NJ — A township man was arrested after he burglarized six vehicles at the Edward Sisco Village on Runnymede Drive, police announced.

Joseph V. Derissio, 21, of Wayne was charged with possession of heroin and six counts of burglary to auto.

Six elderly residents of Edward Sisco Village reported to police Friday that someone entered their vehicles and took coins and other items, said Detective Capt. Laurence Martin.

Detective Ken Hart investigated and interviewed Derissio at Wayne Police Headquarters Wednesday. After the interview, police charged Derissio and turned him over to the Passaic County Jail for detention.

Police remind residents to remove valuables from their vehicles and lock them to prevent break-ins and theft.
