Wayne Kmart Among 4 NJ Stores Closing For Good
The company said it was a "difficult but necessary" decision.

WAYNE, NJ – Kmart’s Wayne store is among the chain’s four locations in New Jersey slated to close by the end of the year.
Liquidation is set to begin in mid-September at the Hamburg Turnpike store and it will be shut down by mid-December, according to Larry Costello, a spokesman for Kmart’s parent company, Transform Co.
Shuttering locations in Wayne, Wall, Trenton and Somers Point was a “difficult but necessary” decision, one Costello said the company made after “careful review.”

Though Kmart and Sears survived total bankruptcy in 2018, both brands have been struggling ever since. The chains – both more than a century old – have faced increasing competition over the last decade from internet shopping.
Many Sears stores have since closed, including the department store’s location in Paramus Park Mall.
