Wayne Pharmacy Reopens After School Bus Crash

WAYNE, NJ — A local pharmacy reopened the day after a Wayne school bus crashed into it, thanks to the help of another hometown business.

Police said the school bus was traveling north on Black Oak Ridge Road around 7:30 a.m. Thursday, and collided with two cars that were stopped in the left turn lane. Following the collision, police said the bus also struck a traffic signal before crashing into the front of Black Oak Pharmacy, which sustained heavy damage.

In a social media post, Black Oak Pharmacy said none of their customers or employees were injured and that they would reopen Friday "thanks to everyone who helped today to get us back on our feet."

The pharmacy gave a special thank you to Rich Graniere and the staff at Advantage Contracting, who helped them assess the situation, clean up safely, and prepare to get back in business.

"Thank you to all of our wonderful customers, friends, and family who reached out today," the social media post read. "Happy Holidays to all, and wishing everyone health, happiness and safety, always!"

There was one student on the bus at the time of the crash, police said. The student and the bus driver suffered minor injuries. The bus driver was taken to the hospital for treatment while the student was released to her parents at the scene. The drivers of the other two cars were not injured.

All three vehicles were towed from the scene of the crash. The collision remains under investigation. Anyone with information should contact police at 973-694-0600.
