Wayne Receives Grant For Stigma-Free Initiative
The money will help first-responders recognize and assist people with mental-health issues.
WAYNE, NJ — The township received a grant from Chilton Hospital to help further its efforts of becoming a stigma-free community.
The Stigma-Free Communities Initiative is a program for counties and municipalities to take a stand against stigma by joining forces with township officials, schools, clergy, local physicians, residents, business owners, and other community members to end judgment and help people who may be suffering.
The grant will allow the town and the Wayne Alliance for the Prevention of Alcohol and Substance Abuse to increase awareness throughout town about how to recognize and help people who suffer with a mental health condition.
