3 Homework-Free 'Wellness Weekends' Set For Wayne Students, Teachers This Year
The district is focusing on overall student and staff wellness, giving the school community more time to relax with family.
WAYNE, NJ — Students and teachers at Wayne Township Schools won't have to think about homework, tests, quizzes, or other assignments during designated weekends in the 2024/2025 school year.
The district has scheduled three "Wellness Weekends" again this year, continuing an effort that began in 2018 to give students (and staff) more time to relax with their families over holiday breaks.

- Nov. 27 through Dec. 1
- Feb. 14-17
- May 23-26
These weekends "represent a break away from school responsibilities," said Superintendent Dr. Mark Toback in a letter to parents and guardians.
"Students do not have any obligations to the school district, which means no homework, no tests or quizzes, and no due dates scheduled directly before or after a Wellness Weekend," he said. "We hope this will lead to healthier students, employees, and families."

Toback also noted the district's homework policy, which says that “assessments may not be given and homework or long-term projects may not be due within three days following a spring or winter recess period.”
