Welcome Ramadan 2025 With Music, Food, And More In Wayne

Township officials and the local Muslim community will celebrate Ramadan with a lantern lighting, music, food, and prizes.

WAYNE, NJ —Ramadan is approaching for Muslims around the world, and Wayne Township residents will gather for music, food, and community to mark the holy month.

Township officials and the Wayne Muslim Community will gather on Thursday, Feb. 27 for a Ramadan Hilal Lighting — "Hilal" referring to the appearance of the crescent moon, which marks a new month in the Islamic calendar.

The celebration will begin at 6 p.m. at Wayne Town Hall, and organizers have food, drinks, prizes, music, and activities in store for those in attendance. This is the second year in a row that the township has sponsored a Ramadan celebration.

The monthlong observance of Ramadan is a time of fasting, introspection and prayer observed by 1.8 billion Muslims worldwide. Depending on when the moon is sighted, Ramadan is expected to begin on Friday, Feb. 28 and end on Sunday, March 30.
