Woman Killed In Passaic County Crash: Prosecutor

The 64-year-old woman was trying to cross a Passaic street Tuesday morning when she was struck by a truck, authorities said.

PASSAIC COUNTY, NJ — A woman died after she was struck by a pickup truck Tuesday morning in Passaic, Passaic County Prosecutor Camelia Valdes said.

Mary Hernandez, 64, of Passaic was trying to cross Gregory Avenue when she was hit by a 2018 Toyota 4-Runner, Valdes said.

Police responded to the crash at 6:05 a.m., Valdes said. Hernandez was brought to St. Mary's Hospital in Passaic where she was pronounced dead at 6:17 a.m.

Manuel Henry Tolivia Gimeno, 48, of Spain, was driving the truck when Hernandez was hit, Valdes said. He was the only one in the truck and was not hurt, she said.

No charges were filed against Gimeno, however authorities are investigating the crash. More information will be released once it becomes available, Valdes said.
