NJ Man Shot Girlfriend Dead, Fled In Her Car. He Left Behind A Wounded Witness, Police Say
Lamont Truitt, 36, of Trenton, was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree attempted murder, first-degree carjacking, and more.

TRENTON, NJ — A 36-year-old Trenton man who fatally shot his girlfriend and also shot her friend in the leg was arrested on Sunday, police say.
Lamont Truitt was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree attempted murder, first-degree carjacking, two counts of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun and second-degree certain persons not to possess a firearm.
Just before 6 a.m. Sunday, Trenton Police were alerted to multiple gunshot rounds in the area of Oakland Street in the city, and also got calls for a woman shot in the leg.

Police say that 32-year-old Alyssia Murphy was in a silver Toyota Camry parked on Coolidge Avenue with a friend when Truitt approached the vehicle and began arguing with Murphy.
Police said Murphy and Truitt were in a relationship.

Truitt then pulled a handgun and fired multiple times, according to Mercer County Prosecutor Janetta D. Marbrey and Trenton Police Director Steve Wilson.
Murphy's friend, was able to get out of the vehicle before Truitt got in the Camry and drove away, authorities said.
Trenton Police Officers found the 25-year-old woman in the 200 block of Coolidge Avenue suffering from a gunshot wound to the leg. She was taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center.
About two hours later, Lower Makefield Township Police found Murphy dead inside the Camry in Pennsylvania in the area of East Ferry Road and the Delaware Canal.
Truitt was arrested on Sunday after turning himself in at the Trenton Police Department. The prosecutor’s office has filed a motion to detain Truitt pending trial.
