6 Injured, 4 Extricated In South Jersey Bridge Crash: Officials

3 vehicles collided in a chain-reaction crash on the icy roads.

PENNSVILLE TOWNSHIP, NJ — Six people were injured after a three-vehicle crash on the Delaware Memorial Bridge on Friday, when icy roads created havoc for drivers throughout the region, officials said.

The chain-reaction crash unfolded at 5:42 p.m. in the northbound lanes, according to a spokesperson for the Delaware River & Bay Authority, which operates the bridge.

Four people were extricated from their vehicles, and six were brought to a local trauma center for treatment of their injuries, according to the Minquadale Fire Company in Delaware. The victims' conditions were not available.

Sleet and freezing rain were beginning to fall when the crash happened. The bridge's northbound lanes were closed for about an hour.
