Delaware, Maryland Teams Win at Eastern Regional
West Deptford is hosting the Senior League tournament for the 23rd straight year.

Naamans Little League of Wilmington, DE used a three-run fourth inning and a strong pitching performance to defeat Glassboro, NJ, 4-1, in opening night action at the 2013 Senior League Baseball Eastern Regional in West Deptford Friday.
After beating the host district team from New Jersey on Friday night, Naamans will face the New Jersey state champs from Buena, NJ at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Glassboro moves into an elimination game on Sunday at 11:30 a.m. against an opponent to be determined.
Graham Haines earned the win, going the first four innings and allowing six hits one run, which came in the first. He did not issue walk while striking out three. Doug Ryan came on to close it out, returning nine of the 13 batters he faced to earn the save.
Naamans had just four hits on the night, but Haines helped his own cause with a two-run single in the three-run fourth. It was the only hit in the inning as the Delaware champs took advantage of two walks and a hit batter.

Glassboro had seven hits in the game, but couldn't capitalize. The local squad left nine runners on base, including having the tying run at the plate in both the fifth and seventh innings. But Ryan worked his way out of both jams.
Mike Maldonado led the offense for Glassboro, going 2-for-3 on the night.

Caronline North 8, Bristol 3
Caroline North, MD scored in four consecutive frames, including a four-run fourth that put the game out of reach, to win the opening game of the 2013 Senior League Baseball Eastern Regional, 8-3 over Edgewood Little League of Bristol, CT.
Caroline North will face Johnston, RI in a winner's bracket game Saturday at 2 p.m. Edgewood will play in an elimination game Sunday at 2 p.m. against an opponent to be determined.
Edgewood took advantage of a fielding error and a couple of wild pitches to jump out to an early 1-0 lead. But Caroline North scored twice on a bases loaded walk and an RBI ground out by Camden Lancaster to take the lead.
After tacking on another run in the third with an RBI single by Chris Gleockler, the Maryland champs put the game out of reach with a four-spot in the fourth, capped off by an RBI double to center by Devin Patrick.
Brady Wilkins earned the win, pitching into the seventh before being lifted due to the pitch count lifted. In six-plus innings, Wilkins allowed six hits, walking two and striking out three.
Jake Colello went 2-for-4 with a run scored and an RBI for Edgewood from the leadoff spot. Gleockler and Michael Thomas each had two hits for Caroline North.
