Man, 86, Fatally Struck While Checking His Mail In South Jersey: Police
Police believe the victim was struck while he was crossing the street to check his mailbox.
MILLVILLE, NJ — A vehicle struck and killed a Millville man while he crossed the street to check his mailbox Friday evening, police told Patch.
The vehicle struck Genady Vurganov, 86, at 5:40 p.m. on the 2000 block of Wheaton Avenue, said Millville Police Cpt. Carl Heger. Police believe Vurganov was walking to his mailbox, which is across the street and near Ladow Avenue.
Vurganov was brought to Cooper University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on Saturday evening.

The driver remained at the scene of the crash and was unhurt. She showed no signs of impairment, and no violations were issued at the scene, Heger said.
