Woman Killed After Deer Crashes Through Car Windshield: Police

FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ - A South Jersey woman was killed in a Sunday afternoon collision with a deer that crashed through her windshield, authorities said.

Franklin Township police responded to the Delsea Drive crash around 5 p.m., finding a white KIA Soul on the shoulder of the road facing south with heavy damage to the front and rear windshields, police said.

An investigation later found that a deer entered the roadway, causing the animal to travel through the passenger compartment and exit through the back windshield when hit, police said.

The driver, Karen Juliano, 63, of Newfield, was pronounced dead at the scene as a result of the animal striking her during the crash, police said.

The crash is being investigated by Officer Austin Theuret of the Franklin Township Police Department.
