Here are some local organizations that are helping the Westfield community daily and could use some support:

WESTFIELD, NJ — Nonprofit groups are keystone community organizations in Westfield area. Fortunately, there is no shortage of organizations to volunteer or get behind financially, and that need your help.

Here are six outstanding nonprofit groups you should know about in the Westfield area:

  1. Mobile Meals of Westfield: Mobile Meals of Westfield is a voluntary, 501(c)3 non-profit program, and is available to residents of Clark, Cranford, Fanwood, Garwood, Mountainside, Scotch Plains, and Westfield New Jersey. We are supported by our members and donations from charitable social services organizations.
  2. Westfield United Fund: They are proud to be a locally-focused, grassroots organization. For over 85 years, they have remained true to their mission of helping people in the Westfield area care for one another by taking an active role in building a stronger community.
  3. CASA of Union County: Since 2005, Court Appointed Special Advocates of Union County has been recruiting, training, supervising and supporting community volunteers to advocate for abused, neglected and abandoned children placed in foster homes or residential facilities. CASA volunteers ensure children’s best interests remain the priority while working toward establishing a safe, stable and permanent home for each child served.
  4. NJ Sharing Network: NJ Sharing Network is the non-profit organization responsible for the recovery and placement of donated organs and tissue for those in need of a life-saving transplant.
  5. Home For Good Dogs: A 100 percent foster-based dog rescue that rescues homeless dogs from high-kill shelters in the South, which are overflowing with unwanted dogs on the brink of being euthanized.
  6. Summit Animal Rescue Association (SARA, Inc.): A non-profit organization that rescues cats or any animal in need, provide them with medical attention, rehabilitate them, and provide a temporary loving environment until a permanent home is found through adoption.
