Back To School: Westfield's Calendar For The 2022-23 Academic Year

School is starting soon in Westfield. Check out all the important dates you need to know this coming year:

WESTFIELD, NJ — Back to school season is right around the corner, and there are some important dates to keep in mind.

The first day of school in the Westfield Public Schools District is Wednesday, Sept. 7 — two days after Labor Day.

Schools will close on Monday, Sept. 26 and Tuesday, Sept. 27 for the Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah, and again on Oct. 5 for Yom Kippur.

As of now, there are no mask mandates for students and staff.

COVID-19 school guidelines could be significantly relaxed by the CDC in the coming days. Specifically, guidelines addressing screening for the virus as well as social distancing could be eased, according to CNN.

Here are some other important dates for Westfield parents and students to look out for:

  • Nov. 10-11: Schools closed (Teacher Professional Days)
  • Nov. 24-25: Schools closed, Thanksgiving Recess
  • Dec. 26-30: Schools closed, Holiday break
  • Jan. 16: Schools closed, MLK Jr. Day
  • Feb. 17-20: Schools closed, President's Day
  • April 3-7: Schools closed, Spring Break
  • May 29: District closed, Memorial Day

The last day of classes is June 21, which is also the same day as the Westfield High School graduation, according to the calendar.
