Car Burglary, DWI Arrest, Shoplifting Reported In Westfield

Westfield Police released its blotter for incidents over the past week.

WESTFIELD, NJ — A burglary to a van, shoplifting, a DWI arrest, and more were reported recently in Westfield.

Westfield Police Blotter – June 8 to June 14:

On June 9 at 4:22 p.m.: A contractor reported a motor vehicle burglary involving his work van while working in the 500 block of Alden Avenue. According to the victim, he saw a person enter the van, remove a bag containing a wallet, and flee the scene. The suspect then tried to use the victim's credit card at a nearby store.

On June 10 at 10:03 p.m.: Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Springfield Avenue and East Broad Street, which resulted in the arrest of Kathleen Morales, 49, of Kenilworth for driving while intoxicated. Morales was taken to Westfield Police Department Headquarters, where she was processed and subsequently released to a sober adult.

On June 12 at 5:04 a.m.: Officers responded to a business in the 200 block of East North Avenue regarding a suspected fraud. A bicycle valued at $2,665.61 was fraudulently purchased as well as a secondary purchase was attempted.

On June 12 at 3:58 p.m.: A business located on Elm Street within the Central Business District reported that a Hispanic male and a Hispanic female came into their store and shoplifted two containers of face cream, valued at approximately $200 each. The suspects exited the store and walked towards East Broad Street out of sight. Officers responded to the area but were unable to locate the suspects.

On June 13 at 12:23 a.m.: Adrian Aguirre, 20, of Westfield, was placed under arrest for driving while intoxicated following a motor vehicle stop for a traffic violation that occurred in Westfield. Aguirre was placed under arrest, taken to Westfield Police Headquarters and released on a summons to a sober adult.

On June 14 at 10 p.m.: A patron of a business reported that they believe their wallet was stolen from a business on the 100 block of Elm Street. The patron said they paid a bill and left their wallet containing numerous identification cards and credit cards on a table. Upon returning for the mislaid item, it was gone.
