ICYMI: 7-Year-Old Westfield Girl Donates Birthday Gifts To Non-Profit

A 7-year-old Westfield girl decided the best way to celebrate her birthday this year was to donate all of her birthday gifts this year.

A 7-year-old Westfield girl decided the best way to celebrate her birthday this year was to donate all of the gifts she received from her pool party at the Westfield Area Y to a local non-profit, The Birthday Box.

Katie Twilley donated about 50 presents to the organization dedicated to providing gifts and party supplies to disadvantaged or sick children, according to TAP into Westfield.

It was Katie’s mom, Alyson Twilley, who suggested she make the donation to The Birthday Box after the then 6-year-old declared she didn’t have enough space for new toys.

“She was looking around her room, and was like ‘I don’t have adequate room to put my toys away, let alone get new ones!’” Twilley said, according to birthdaypartysupplys.com.

The non-profit, The Birthday Box, was started in 2010 when two Westfield moms decided every child deserves to have a birthday party and wanted to insure families in need could provide their kids with just that.
