More Than $86K Raised To Support Art Projects In Westfield
The streets aren't the only things getting a makeover.
WESTFIELD, NJ — Replacing the old street markings around Westfield was the sign of something good to come.
More than $86,000 was raised to benefit the Public Arts Commission through the auction of the old street signs that began on Oct. 6. Over the past year, all of the old markings were replaced by the town in favor of larger, visually consistent signs that also incorporate a more reflective appearance for nighttime safety.
According to Mayor Shelley Brindle, proceeds will fund new public art showcases and sculptures for the two new parks being constructed at the former Good Lube property and the Westfield Crossing site on Windsor Avenue/South Avenue.

Along with the upgrade to all 1,350 signs around the community, the Town of Westfield is now in charge of their upkeep.
This responsibility used to fall under Union County, meaning Westfield had to wait for County assistance before replacing old signs. It also gives Westfield the ability to brand the signs each way to create a uniform look on its streets.
The Town is planning on having another auction in the spring of 2026 to handle leftover signs.
Winners from this auction can pick up their items from Dec. 9 through Dec. 12 between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. in the Administration Office of Town Hall.
