• Westfield Students Helping Recycle Christmas Trees For A Cause (patch.com) — Westfield families can turn their Christmas trees into support for Westfield High School’s band and choir through a $22 curbside pickup and recycling fundraiser. Residents must register and pay by Friday, with trees collected Jan. 11 and proceeds funding music, clinics, and student trips.

• Westfield Police: 15-Year-Old Arrested in Christmas Day Burglary Attempt (tapinto.net) — Westfield police say a 15-year-old from Newark has been charged in an attempted Christmas Day burglary at a Coolidge Street home, where high-end vehicles were believed to be the target. The teen was arrested in Newark with a stolen BMW also linked to a Chatham burglary, and Westfield police report stepped-up patrols in neighborhoods hit by recent vehicle-related crimes. Residents with information are urged to contact Detective Lt. Marcin Kapka.

• Horner nets 3 goals, Hillsborough takes win against Cranford - Boys ice hockey recap (nj.com subscription) — Hillsborough’s Brody Horner scored three goals to lead a 7–1 win over Cranford in boys ice hockey at Flemington Ice Arena. While the game didn’t feature Westfield, the story notes a prior NJSIAA semifinal between Westfield and Hillsborough, keeping local rivals in the picture for fans following area high school hockey.
