Severe Thunderstorm Warning Issued For Union County
A severe thunderstorm moving was detected near the area that could bring 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail.
UNION COUNTY, NJ — A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Union County as a storm with 60 mph wind gusts and hail is approaching the area.
The National Weather Service(NWS) in Mount Holly issued the severe thunderstorm warning through 3:45 p.m. on Friday. A severe thunderstorm watch will also remain in effect through 11 p.m.
At 3:04 p.m., a severe thunderstorm was located over Clark, or near Linden, moving north at 20 mph that could bring 60 mph wind gusts and quarter-size hail.

"Minor damage to vehicles is possible. Wind damage to roofs, siding, trees, and power lines is possible," according to NWS.
The NWS shared the warning with the following instructions:

"For your protection move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building. In addition to large hail and damaging winds, frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm. Move indoors immediately. Remember, if you can hear thunder, you are close enough to be struck by lightning. Torrential rainfall is occurring with this storm, and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways."

New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Saturday: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly after 3 p.m. Patchy fog before 9 a.m. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a high near 84. Calm wind becoming south around 6 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Saturday Night: Showers and thunderstorms likely, mainly before 9 p.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 3 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 70. Southeast wind 3 to 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
Sunday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 81. South wind 3 to 8 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Sunday Night: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 69. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
