U.S. Attorney: Union County Man Charged With Possessing Images of Child Sexual Abuse
A Linden, New Jersey, youth organization leader was charged with possession of child pornography in Newark federal court.

A Linden, New Jersey, man was charged today with possessing images of child sexual abuse, according to the United States Attorney’s Office.
Gregory J. Aker, 45, who was a leader in a boys youth organization and religious education teacher, is charged by complaint with one count of possessing child pornography, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced.
Aker was arrested on Feb. 22, 2014, by the Linden Police Department for sexual assault and endangering the welfare of two minor children, according to court documents. Authorities seized several computers and electronic storage devices from Aker’s home after his arrest, on which investigators found approximately 1,240 images and 43 videos of child pornography, including images of prepubescent children being sexually abused, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.

The charge of possession of child pornography carries with it maximum sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Aker is currently in state custody and is set to appear in Newark federal court on Thursday, March 12.
