Westfield 8th Grader Advances to State Geography Bee
A student at Roosevelt Intermediate School in Westfield has advanced to the 2015 New Jersey National Geographic State Bee.
An eighth grade student at Roosevelt Intermediate School has been notified that he is eligible to compete in the 2015 New Jersey National Geographic State Bee.
Jasper Lemberg will compete in the competition at Rowan University, in Glassboro, on Friday, March 27. This is the third consecutive year in which Jasper has qualified for the state competition, according to officials from Westfield Public Schools.
After winning his school championship, Jasper took a qualifying test, which was submitted to the National Geographic. The National Geographic Society selects up to 100 of the highest-scoring students from each of the 50 states in the country, Washington, D.C., Department of Defense Dependents Schools and United States territories to compete in the state Bees, according to school district officials.

State champions receive $100, the “National Geographic Atlas of the World, 10th Edition,” a medal and a trip to Washington, D.C., to represent his or her state in the National Geographic Bee Championship. The national competition will be held at the National Geographic Society Headquarters, May 11-13.
