Westfield Police Chief David C. Wayman advises that excessive heat and high humidity are expected to descend upon the area this week creating dangerous conditions. This will result in an increased likelihood for heat-related illnesses.
Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. Limit outdoor activities, if possible. Wear light weight and loose fitting clothing. Drink plenty of fluids.

Know the signs and symptoms of heat-related illnesses. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool or shaded location. Heat stroke is an emergency. Call 9-1-1 if this occurs.
