Westfield Woman Arrested Twice In One Day For Shoplifting, Assault

A 20-year-old Westfield woman was charged with aggravated assault on a health care worker.

A 20-year-old Westfield woman was arrested and charged with two separate crimes within hours of each other in two different townships on Sunday.

Oria Alexander was arrested for shoplifting around noon after she was caught leaving a Mansfield Walmart without paying for merchandise, according to Mansfield police. She was charged and released pending court appearance.

Hours later, Alexander was charged for aggravated assault on a health care worker at the Hackettstown Regional Medical Center Emergency Department.

Police were called to the hospital around 7:41 p.m. when Alexander allegedly struck a nurse three times in the head after attempting to leave the hospital where she was receiving treatment, according to Hackettstown Police.

She was charged and released pending a court appearance. Aggravated assault on a health care worker is considered a 4th degree crime.
