Where Are the Worst Potholes in Westfield?
Patch readers named a number of streets around Westfield that are dotted with potholes. Do you agree?

Although the weather is warming up, winter is still reeking havoc on Westfield in a way many would not expect: Potholes.
Potholes develop after water from snow and rain seeps into small cracks in the roadway surface, according to state highway officials. As temperatures drop, the water freezes and expands, making the cracks larger, eventually forming potholes. Heavy traffic, pavement age, vehicle weights, and snow and ice operations contribute to the problem.
After the seemingly never-ending winter, Patch asked readers to tell us where the worst potholes are in Westfield. Here is a sample of some of the comments from Westfield Patch readers:

- “Just beyond Edison middle school going South on Rahway MANY dangerous potholes (a few in the North bound lane at the same site)“
- “Virginia Ave, it’s entire length, but especially at the intersection of Virginia and Boynton.”
- “Entire stretch of East Broad St from North Ave to Springfield Ave. didn’t they just repave in the early fall???”
- “Clark train bridge on Central Ave -both directions”
- “On Stanley Ave just outside the Library entrance and it’s intersection with Arlington Ave”
