West Orange Foundation One of Best Places to Work in N.J.

The Kessler Foundation was recognized as one of the 2015 best U.S. nonprofits.

The Kessler Foundation has been named one of the Best U.S. Nonprofits to Work for by The Nonprofit Times and one of the Best Places to Work in New Jersey by NJBIZ.

The Kessler Foundation, based in West Orange, conducts rehabilitation research to improve mobility and cognition of individuals with multiple sclerosis, stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury and other disabling conditions, the foundation said.

“We are very pleased to be recognized again for our workplace environment,” Rodger DeRose, president and chief executive officer of Kessler Foundation, said in a release. “This is the fourth year that the Foundation has been cited as one of the best nonprofits in the U.S., and its third year among the best places to work in New Jersey.”

The Kessler Foundation jumped up in the rankings of Best Nonprofits from last year, moving from No. 23 overall to No. 12. In the medium category, the foundation moved from No. 9 to No. 4.

To be considered among the best nonprofits, organizations provide information on employment practices and benefits. Additionally, employees submit anonymous surveys assessing the organization’s leadership, corporate culture and communications, work environment, supervision, training and development, compensation and employee engagement and satisfaction, according to the Kessler Foundation.

The rankings for the NJBIZ Best Places to Work in New Jersey will be announced at the awards reception and ceremony on April 30.
