Colonia Man Charged With Online Luring

A Colonia man was charged in a sting done by the Middlesex County Prosecutor, targeting people who lured minors, 13 and 14, on social media:

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — A Colonia man was criminally charged in a sting done by Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone, targeting people who used social media to allegedly lure underage minors for sexual activity.

All four men thought they were talking online with minors who said they were 13 or 14 years old, said the prosecutor. In reality, they were chatting with undercover police officers.

In total, four men — two from Jersey City, one from Piscataway and one from the Colonia section of Woodbridge — were arrested in the sting. All four were arrested without incident last week, from June 3 through June 10.

All four men were arrested after they arrived at an unnamed location in East Brunswick, where they expected to meet the child, said the prosecutor. Instead, they were met with law enforcement officers.

  • Peter Wissemann, 27, of Colonia, was charged with one count of second-degree Luring and one count of third-degree Criminal Attempt – Endangering Sexual Conduct with a Child.
  • Edgar Rivera, 65, of Piscataway, was charged with one count of second-degree Luring and one count of third-degree Criminal Attempt – Endangering Sexual Conduct with a Child.
  • Mohamed Mohamed, 41, of Jersey City, was charged with one count of second-degree Luring.
  • Malyar Baron, 32, of Jersey City, was charged with one count of second-degree Luring, one count of second-degree Criminal Attempt -Endangering, one count of third-degree Distributing Obscene Material to a Minor, and one count of third-degree Criminal Attempt – Endangering Sexual Conduct with a Child.

The investigation is active and continuing. Anyone with information is asked to call the Internet Crimes Against Children Unit of The Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office at (732) 745-3300.
