Lots Of New Restaurants Coming To Woodbridge In 2024
A high-end Mexican place to open on Main Street; Violette's Cellar will open across from town hall and Main Tavern getting a new name/look:
WOODBRIDGE, NJ — In his State of the Township address last Friday, Mayor John McCormac gave several updates on new restaurants that are coming to Woodbridge:
- The office building at 73 Main Street currently under construction will become a new Mexican restaurant called Mexology. This will be high-end Mexican. There is an existing Mexology in Elizabeth. If you've ever eaten there, was it good?
- There are also plans to transform Main Tavern into Lenihan’s Irish Pub. Construction will start soon.
- A new restaurant plans to open right across from Town Hall, in the bottom floor of the Modera apartment building. It will be called Violette’s Cellar, and will serve "upscale contemporary American." McCormac said they aim to replicate their "wildly successful Staten Island location" here in Woodbridge.
- Another successful Staten Island restaurant — Angelina’s Kitchen — is already under construction on upper Main Street, next to the Vermella apartments.
- Strickland's Steakhouse may add a retail butcher shop next door. So you can buy steaks and chops to take home and grill at home. (Owner Mike Strickland lives in Port Reading.)
- And "at least two more restaurants are on the drawing board," said the mayor. He did not give any more information.
- Sometime later this year, Woodbridge Brewing Company is planning unspecified building upgrades. Their new outdoor patio has been very popular.
- Knot Just Bagels "should be opening very shortly" in its new home at 93 Main Street.
In the past year, Woodbridge added free parking lots on New Street and North James Street to encourage people to shop and dine on Main Street.
