WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Another protest is planned this Saturday against the SeaQuest aquarium inside Woodbridge Center Mall.

The group leading the protest is called StopSeaQuest Woodbridge, and several of their members are local Woodbridge residents. Protesters say they are planning to meet from 2-4 p.m. at the intersection of Woodbridge Terrace and Woodbridge Center Drive, at the light by the Red Robin restaurant.

They also plan to speak at the next upcoming Woodbridge town Council meeting, held at town hall at 6 p.m. next Tuesday, Sept. 3. They say two former SeaQuest employees will be there, and will speak before the town Council.

Animals rights activists have been protesting SeaQuest outside the mall for several years now, starting almost as soon as it first opened in 2019.

In July, PETA obtained this report from the NJ Division of Fish & Wildlife that showed nearly 100 exotic animals have died at the SeaQuest since it first opened. Also, the Woodbridge Mall SeaQuest is currently on probation from Fish & Wildlife, and at risk of losing their animal permits, due to continued allegations of animals being poorly cared for.
