Strickland's Steakhouse Now Open On Main Street In Woodbridge

The steakhouse opened in the former Woodbridge Nat'l Bank building and is owned by lifelong Woodbridge resident Michael Strickland.

WOODBRIDGE, NJ — Strickland's, the new steakhouse on Main Street in Woodbridge, is now open.

Strickland's Steakhouse had a soft opening about a month ago and its grand opening and ribbon cutting with town officials last Friday, Sept. 8.

The steakhouse opened in the former Woodbridge National Bank building, at 106 Main Street. It is owned by Michael Strickland, a life-long Woodbridge resident; he lives in the Port Reading section.

Strickland's occupies both floors of the two-story former bank: The first floor is set up like a lounge, with a full bar and a "speakeasy feel," says Strickland, with velvet chairs and banquette seating. The second floor is a more final dining room with high ceilings and chandeliers. There is an additional bar on the second floor and that space could be rented out for private parties.

Strickland's is closed Monday-Wednesday, and open 5-10 p.m. Thursday, Friday, Saturday and 3 - 9 p.m. Sundays. Plans are underway to start serving lunch. They do not have a parking lot, but they do have a valet out front.

Take a tour of the new steakhouse in this video from the Sept. 8 ribbon cutting, where Strickland says he spent the past year restoring the historic former bank building, including leaving much of its original exposed brick, and hiring staff. His wife Jessica did all the interior design and layout.

Strickland already owns and operates two restaurants on Staten Island: West Shore Inn Steakhouse (voted #1 steakhouse in Staten Island) and Fig & Vine, serving "elevated Italian-American cuisine."

This is the first time Strickland will open a restaurant in his hometown.

"Local boy done good," said Mayor John McCormac at the ribbon cutting.

“I am thrilled at the opportunity to serve our new friends and neighbors here in Woodbridge Township," Strickland said previously, adding that he was looking to open a steakhouse in Central New Jersey and Woodbridge's Main Street business district "came out on top as the number-one market demographic."

McCormac hailed Strickland's opening as "an upscale casual restaurant" that he said will continue to lead his redevelopment efforts of Main Street in Woodbridge.
