$1K Stolen From Unlocked Car: Franklin Lakes PD
Two men wearing ski masks reportedly broke into a Franklin Lakes man's unlocked car and stole $1,000 in cash before fleeing the area Sunday.
FRANKLIN LAKES, NJ – Two men wearing ski masks reportedly broke into a Franklin Lakes man’s unlocked car and stole $1,000 in cash before fleeing the area early Sunday morning.
Around 1:20 a.m, Officer Eric Rosado was dispatched to an Arapaho Trail residence, where the homeowner told him spotted two men breaking into his vehicle parked in the driveway, according to Capt. John Bakelaar.
When the resident opened his front door, the men ran from the property toward two vehicles that were parked and waiting nearby, Bakelaar said.

According to Bakelaar, one of the cars was a white sport utility vehicle and the other was a black hatchback sedan.
The resident also reported that his credit cards, as well as driver’s license, were taken from the car, Bakelaar said.

Authorities are also investigating another vehicle break-in that was reported about a mile away on Wooded Trail the following morning at 1:26 a.m., he said.
In that incident, a resident told police that “unknown persons” had entered her unlocked car that was parked in the driveway and took a pair of sunglasses, Bakelaar said. The sunglasses were found discarded in the street, he said.
