The man hit a GMC Sierra, flew through the air over the hood

FRANKLIN LAKES, NJ — A borough man was hospitalized after he was thrown from his motorcycle during a motor vehicle crash in Fair Lawn, police said.

The 51-year-old Franklin Lakes man was going north on Maple Avenue just past River Road when he hit a 2002 GMC Sierra at about 12:49 p.m., said Fair Lawn Police Sgt Brian Metzler. The truck made a left out of a business on Maple Avenue when the crash occurred, Metzler said.

The motorcyclist was sent over the hood of the truck and landed on Maple Avenue, Metzler said. Both the man's legs were injured, and he complained of pain to his hip or torso. The Fair Lawn Volunteer Ambulance Corps took him to St. Joseph's Medical Center in Paterson, Metzler said.

The Sierra driver, a 69-year-old from Maywood, was not injured, the sergeant said.

Police are investigating the crash.
