'Historic' Snowstorm a Bust, Wyckoff Gets 6-7 Inches
Do you think school should have been canceled? Let us know by taking our poll.

The “historic” snowstorm was anything but historic - at least as of Tuesday afternoon.
Forecasters predicted Wyckoff would see one to two feet of snow accumulations but according to police estimates, snow accumulations in the Township were at 6 or 7 inches as of 11:03 a.m. Tuesday.
“The township was prepared for whatever came our way and we are certainly thankful that it was nowhere as bad as was predicted,” Wyckoff Police Chief Benjamin C. Fox said. “Government has no choice in weather situations but to be driven by the forecasts of the professional meteorologists. The old saying of better to be prepared and not need it, than to be unprepared and have needs, certainly applies.”

National Weather Service Meteorologist Gary Szatkowski issued an apology via twitter saying, “My deepest apologies to many key decision makers and so many members of the general public.”
“You made a lot of tough decisions expecting us to get it right, and we didn’t,” read another tweet. “Once again, I’m sorry.”

The apology comes after Governor Chris Christie issued a travel ban and most schools and businesses decided to shut down Tuesday.
Still, Chief Fox thanked essential Township employees.
“My thanks to all the township emergency services, especially the volunteers of the Fire Department and Ambulance Corps,” Chief Fox said. “There was a lot of planning to be prepared for whatever type of storm hit our town.”
“The Wyckoff DPW has been hard at work keeping our roadways safe and clear of snow and ice; and Mayor Kevin Rooney and Township Administrator Bob Shannon have been instrumental in all of the emergency planning over the past 2 days. ...as we always do, we look for ways to improve upon anything in preparation for the next events that may come to Wyckoff.”
