Man Charged In Hit-And-Run That Killed Pedestrian In Midland Park: Prosecutor

A Lodi man has been charged in a hit-and-run in Bergen County that killed a man from Wyckoff earlier this month, prosecutors said.

BERGEN COUNTY, NJ — A Lodi man has been arrested in a hit-and-run that killed a Wyckoff pedestrian earlier this month, prosecutors said Tuesday. READ MORE: Victim In Hit-And-Run Identified As Man From Wyckoff

Ralph W. Castellano III, 47, has been charged with second-degree knowingly leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, third-degree endangering an injured victim, and motor vehicle offenses, said the office of Bergen County Prosecutor Mark Musella.

On Friday, Oct. 11, just after 7 p.m., the Midland Park Police Department responded to a 911 call reporting a pedestrian struck by a motor vehicle on Godwin Avenue in that town, prosecutors said.

The victim was identified as Paul Adams, 70, whose last known address was Wyckoff.

He was taken to St. Joseph’s University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.

Prosecutors determined that a 2010 Toyota Tundra had struck Adams as he was trying to cross Godwin Avenue at the intersection with Witte Drive., they said.

On Monday, investigators located the vehicle and identified Castellano as the driver at the time of the crash, they said.

Castellano was taken to Bergen County Jail to await an appearance in Bergen County Superior Court in Hackensack, prosecutors said.
