Car Stolen From Wyckoff Home, Then Used In Burglary: Police

A Wyckoff resident left their car unlocked with keys inside. It was stolen and used in a burglary, police said.

WYCKOFF, NJ — An unlocked car was stolen and another was broken into in Wyckoff on the same day this month, police said.

Wyckoff police said Friday that on Dec. 3, a resident of Clinton Avenue reported that their black Kia was stolen from the driveway overnight.

Video surveillance showed two people enter the Kia at approximately 1:38 a.m. and drive away, police said.

Police said that the vehicle had been left unlocked, with keys inside.

The Kia was later used in a burglary in Kearny, and police in that town chased it, said Wyckoff police. But they had to end the chase due to safety concerns.

The car was found on Dec. 4 in Irvington.

Also on Dec. 3, a resident of Carlton Road reported that their Porsche was entered overnight. Video surveillance showed that two people entered the driveway around 1:20 a.m. and opened the unlocked car.

They rummaged around and left. The homeowner told police he didn't think anything was taken.

Police said, "We encourage all residents to report any suspicious persons, vehicles, or activity occurring at any time to the Wyckoff Police-County Communications Center at 201-891-2121, or 911 in the event of an emergency."
