Wyckoff Police Find Hypodermic Needle in Child's Car Seat

A New York woman was arrested last week after hypodermic needles were found in a child’s car seat, police said.
Christie Alvino, of Monsey, N.Y., was charged with possession of stolen property and possession of narcotics paraphernalia.

On Aug. 17, Wyckoff Partolman Kyle Ferreira stopped a vehicle on Goffle Road at 9:30 p.m. for traveling at a high rate of speed.
The driver, Alvino, did not have credentials for the car and was driving it without a key in the ignition. The police’s subsequent search yielded hypodermic needles, including one in a child’s car seat, and stolen goods.

Alvino, 30, was previously arrested by Wyckoff Police in December 2013 for passing counterfeit money and theft by deception. She was arrested again on August 17, following the incident.
Other stolen goods included 10 boxes of baby formula, six boxes of teeth whitening strips, and 14 boxes of condoms. A surveillance tape confirmed that these items, valued at $872, had just been shoplifted from the Walgreen’s Drug Store in Waldwick. Jennifer Brown of Paterson, a passenger in the car, was also involved in the theft and was arrested.
The car was found to belong to a friend of Alvino.
A passenger in the car, Jennifer Brown, 51, of Paterson, was also arrested and charged with possession of stolen property.
Alvino was released after posting $5,000 bail. Brown’s bail was also set at $5,000 and she was turned over to Bergen County Jail authorities after claiming that she needed immediate medical care.
