Wyckoff Township Committee Adopts Two Ordinances at Meeting, Celebrate Mayor's Birthday

The ordinances determine pay for officers and employees and makes changes to the Township's "Towers and Towing" code.

Two ordinances were adopted at Tuesday’s Wyckoff Township Committee meeting.

The first ordinance, #1760, would “provide for and determine the rate of compensation for certain officers and employees of the Township of Wyckoff, and the method of payment of such compensation for the year 2015.”

The adopted ordinance:

  • Requires Special Court Officers to be paid $30 to $50 an hour semi-monthly.
  • Requires Class 2 Appointment to Planning Board be paid $35 a meeting.
  • Requires basketball officials to be paid up to $35 per game.

The second ordinance, #1761, amends “the code of the Township of Wyckoff, Chapter 175, ‘Towers and Towing,’ section 175-8, ‘Fees’ and section 175-15, ‘Insurance’ and section 175-14, ‘Towing and Storage Charges.’”

The adopted ordinance:

  • Increases the licensing fee from $100 to $250 per year, payable before Jan. 1 of the license year.
  • Requires that a $50 fee be due and payable to the Township of Wyckoff for each check returned for insufficient funds or for ant other reason” when paying a $75 impound fee.
  • Requires primary insurance coverage shall include damage to vehicle(s) in storage, loss or physical damage to vehicle(s), by theft, fire or other perils.
  • Requires every tow truck have liability insurance issued by a company authorized to transact business in the State of New Jersey with an AM best rating of A- or better.
  • Requires licensees to supply a certificate of insurance for general liability, automobile and primary garage keepers.
  • Requires licensees to supply a certificate of insurance that contains a 30 day notice of cancellation whereby the Municipal Clerk will be provided with a written notification of cancellation.

The Township Committee wasn’t all business, though.

They did celebrate Mayor Rooney’s 55th birthday by singing and playing the bagpipe.
