7 NY Stop and Shop Supermarkets Closing: See List

NEW YORK — 7 New York Stop & Shop supermarkets will close by the end of the year, according to a news release.

Gordon Reid, the president of Stop & Shop, said the company has " made the difficult decision to close underperforming stores to create a healthy base for the future growth of our brand."

The grocery chain is still expected to have 91 stores in New York.

The company said it will offer jobs at other supermarket locations to workers whose stores will close, Patch reported. The chain will shutter 32 stores across the Northeast.

  • 2525 Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow
