JVS Boston in National Search For New CEO

Workforce development/adult education leader has $20M annual budget, 180 staff, serves 15,000+ people annually

Jewish Vocational Service Boston (JVS Boston), one of New England's largest providers of adult education and workforce development services, has announced its search for a new CEO, through the DRG Talent Advisory Group. JVS Boston is seeking to replace longtime leader Jerry Rubin, who is retiring next spring.

"JVS Boston has tripled in size over the past 15 years, and we expect that growth to continue," said JVS Boston Board Chair Joe Zeff. "We anticipate bringing in an individual to continue our leadership in the workforce development space through the efficient use of technology, growing our relationships with partners, clients and alumni and strategically seizing new opportunities, all to accomplish our goal of giving thousands of individuals the access and the tools they need to build rewarding and successful careers."

With a budget of $20 million, JVS Boston employs 180 people, and helps at least 15,000 people every year, most of them adult immigrants enter the dramatically altered job market through its vast education and training programs. JVS Boston's unique long-term partnerships with employers connects individuals to quality jobs that offer an ideal fit and have the potential to lead to meaningful careers.

"From our experience we know that high-quality employment is not only a means to individual upward mobility but the first step on a path to rising above systemic inequality that undergirds our society," said Zeff. "By gaining the skills that enable them to embark on a successful career our clients begin to build a more prosperous future for themselves, their families and their community."

"We are excited to bring in a CEO who understands our mission and can expand our capabilities, scale our proven models, and diversify our revenue sources to improve service delivery and overall efficiency and lead this great staff through an unprecedented time in our nation's history," added Zeff.
