SCHENECTADY, NY — The New York State Humane Association is offering a $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for abandoning an abused dog on the side of a Schenectady road.

The dog, a young gray pit bull, was found Feb. 7 by a Good Samaritan along Creese Avenue in Schenectady, according to police. Officers were able to get the severely emaciated pup into their patrol car and drove him to a local veterinarian; however, the dog died later that night.

The reward was offered in hopes of generating information about the dog's owner or who might have abandoned him, police said.
