French accordionist Théo Ould makes his debut with Capital Region Classical

  • Johann Sebastian Bach’s Toccata in E-minor, BWV 914
  • Béla Bartók’s Six Dances in Bulgarian Rhythm
  • A selection of works by Astor Piazzolla, including Flora’s Game, Sunny’s Game, Chiquilín de Bachín and Libertango
  • Additional pieces by Heitor Villa‑Lobos, Jorge Guastavino, Jean‑Philippe Rameau, and others.

Ould says that the accordion first captured his imagination at age six when he encountered Piazzolla’s rhythms and intensity, and his work now seeks to free the instrument from cliché and place it within the broader classical tradition.

The Schenectady date is part of Ould’s larger North American debut tour, launched in conjunction with his recent Piazzolla: Balada para un loco on Alpha Classics. He will bring his vision to audiences in Chicago, Montréal, Boston, and Princeton with performances which offer a special opportunity for audiences to experience his artistry up-close.
