Albany, New York Apple Picking Guide 2017

Fall has arrived and the activities that everyone loves to take part in are back, apple picking being at the top of everyone's to do list.

The activity that is fun for the whole family is an enjoyable event that delights children and parents alike. If you're unsure of the best places to take part near Albany, Patch has covered.

Below, you'll find some of the best orchards in the region to get the freshest apples.

It is important to remember to call the orchard ahead of time to make sure the apples are ready to be picked and to confirm their hours.

Bowman Orchards

• 141 Sugar Hill Road in Rexford.
• Open daily from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM
• Bowman Orchards offers many different types of apples to pick, check out the link here to see the best times of the season to pick certain types.

Altamont Orchards

• 4100 Becker Road in Altamont (Picking on September 9th, 10th, 16th, & 17th)
• All picking afterwards will take place at 691-699 New York Route 146.
• Open daily from 9:30 AM-6:00 PM
• Apple picking officially begins at Altamont on Saturday September 9th.

Goold Orchards

• 1297 Brookview Station Road in Castleton.
• Open daily from 9:00 AM-5:00 PM.
• Apple picking for Macintosh Apples at Goold began on September 2nd. Check with the Orchard for specific dates on the other types of apples.

Indian Ladder Farms

• 342 Altamont Road (Route 156) in Altamont.
• For specific pick your own hours, best times to pick apples, etc. contact the Orchard.
• Apple picking is officially open now. Be sure to check out the cidery and brewery while you're there too!
