• UAlbany football alumni tout Ambrose for head coach (timesunion.com) — UAlbany football alumni are rallying behind interim head coach Jared Ambrose, urging athletic director Mark Benson to give him the permanent job after a challenging 2-10 season in Albany. Former players say Ambrose has uniquely engaged alumni and could boost NIL fundraising, while uncertainty over the ongoing national coaching search is fueling concern about transfers and the program’s future direction.
   

• Veterans Services launches online counseling (saratogian.com) — Albany-based state veterans officials have launched Healing Haven, a free virtual peer-support program for military spouses across New York that meets twice monthly on Zoom. Funded through the 2025–26 state budget and backed by Gov. Kathy Hochul, the sessions offer confidential stress-relief coaching and community-building, with flexible evening meetings designed to fit around work, childcare, and transportation challenges.
   

• New York's Prison Reform Bill: 10 Changes for Safer Facilities (wktv.com) — From Albany, state leaders have approved a sweeping prison reform bill that tightens oversight of deaths in custody, mandates full camera coverage, and speeds video disclosure to families and attorneys. The legislation, backed by Gov. Kathy Hochul, also expands investigative staffing, boosts independent oversight, and adds a formerly incarcerated member to the state corrections commission.
