4-Alarm Fire At Sunnyside Market Spreads To Other Buildings: FDNY
Within an hour the blaze at Taiyo Foods was upgraded to a 4-alarm fire and spread to nearby buildings, FDNY officials said.

SUNNYSIDE, QUEENS — A blaze that broke out at a Sunnyside grocery store early Thursday morning quickly spread to nearby buildings before getting under control, fire officials said.
Around 7:20 a.m. the FDNY reported a fire at 45-08 44 Street, a one-story grocery store named Taiyo Foods. Fire fighters used multiple hoses to try and control the blaze, but around 7:40 a.m. they reported that the fire had spread to nearby buildings, including an office building at 43-16 Queens Boulevard.
Within an hour the blaze was upgraded to a 4-alarm fire. Then, shortly before 9:00 a.m., fire officials reported that the blaze was under control.

Online reports, however, still show smoke pouring out of the grocery store, visible even from the 46 St-Bliss Street subway station a couple of blocks away.
Around 8:45 firefighters confirmed that no one was inside the building or hurt from the blaze.
